Chinese space organizations

Research institutes and companies, with source-specific roles in satellite programmes. A development role does not establish satellite control or a military command relationship.

Xi’an Institute of Optics and Precision Mechanics (XIOPM)

中国科学院西安光学精密机械研究所 · Research institute · Chinese Academy of Sciences

XIOPM reports that SY-22B was its first satellite programme as overall implementation lead. The institute describes a payload-led development arrangement in which the satellite platform was procured to meet payload requirements. Its spectral imaging team separately reports developing the GF-14 hyperspectral camera and HJ-2 hyperspectral payloads. These statements document development responsibilities; they do not identify the operator, control station or an undisclosed military mission.
